I recall enfrijolades being served at breakfast in DF too, even though we eat them for dinner.MyKidsEatSquidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10801005441282252073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5726818504596195920.post-23941679074408873702011-04-12T08:58:16.316-05:002011-04-12T08:58:16.316-05:00Hi Nicholas, if I have only one night in DF and se...Hi Nicholas, if I have only one night in DF and seek the most excellent traditional/regional Mexican cuisine, what do you recommend? I think that the breakfast buffet at the Majestic is just o.k, but the coffee is good and the view is impressive.

El Cardenal is much better, epecially their pan dulce, accompanied by natas and a mug of hot chocolate.

Los Tamales: meh. We had tamales for breakfast there and they were less than great, plus not even reheated properly.

Sanborn's Casa de Los Azulejos: bad coffee, good juices, and the Huevos Sanborn's are worthy of mention.

Los Bisquets de Obregón. The original, on Av Ávenida Obregón is our go-to place in Roma. It's not top tier food, but it's satisfying, quick, and inexpensive.

Maque: very pretty, but couldn't see waiting 45 minutes for a table on a Sunday visit in late January.

Cafe Tacuba: the breakfast we had several years ago was passable but we think that the suppers are better there.

Flor de Lis: went by it on a Sunday, not yet opened, so went nearby to Le Pain Quotidien, (French) which I and my wife enjoyed. A bit pricey, though.

Don't know Saks or Fonda Margarita.

A couple of places we do like, both near el Mercado San Juan: the first, La Piccolina, on Luis Moya, corner of Marqués Sterling, across from the Hotel San Diego. Short list of very good breakfasts, abundantly served. Very good coffee. Please: y'all don't go rushing over to this tiny, cute cafetería.)

Up a block and right is the Cocina Económica Vianey, on Ernersto Pugibet. Weekends for great barbacoa. There is often a line. This is among my favorite kind of breakfast in México.

Saludos,
Don CuevasDon Cuevashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13512081335891808593noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5726818504596195920.post-59352146872507589932011-03-22T08:10:56.287-06:002011-03-22T08:10:56.287-06:00Oh my goodness!
